About BabyOliv

We started by reading the labels.

When we were preparing for our own children, we went looking for a plain
blanket. Not a soft one, or a pretty one. A plain one. Cotton, breathable,
nothing added.

What we found instead was chemistry. Resin finishes to stop cloth wrinkling
in the box. Optical brighteners standing in for clean fibre. Softeners letting
a short, coarse cotton pass for a long, fine one. Very little of it declared,
none of it necessary.

A newborn's skin is thinner and more permeable than an adult's. It is the
first thing about the world they meet. We could not find a blanket that
treated that as the design brief, so we stopped looking and went to the source.

In the highlands of Vietnam we found weavers still working on wooden looms. We buy certified organic cotton, have it spun and woven by hand, and then we stop. No dye. No bleach. No softener. The cream is the colour it grew in.

It creases. It varies slightly from piece to piece. It smells of nothing at
all.

That is the entire product, and we would rather prove it than describe it.
